Count on Cafferty! Bush Broke the Law!

When no one else in the MSM will say what needs to be said, or heaven sakes, actually mutter the truth, Jack Cafferty on CNN gets the job done!

Jack Cafferty ripped apart the Congress, Bush and anyone else who bought into Bush's utter ridiculousness that spying on Americans was somehow legal and within the authority of the President, sans a warrant and probable cause!

Here is what Cafferty had to say:

"This Federal district judge ruled today President Bush is breaking the law by spying on people, in this country, without a warrant. The judge said the President is violating the First Amendment to the Constitution. The Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act FISA, passed by Congress 1978, specifically to prevent this kind of abuse of power. It was being done before. That’s why the FISA court was created in the first place.

So what does this mean? It means President Bush violated his oath of office, among other things, when he swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States. It means he’s been lying to us about the program since it started, when tells us there’s nothing illegal about what he’s doing. A court has ruled it is illegal. And it means a 75 year old black female judge in Michigan has finally stepped in and done the job that Congress is supposed to do, namely oversight of the executive branch of government. But the gov…but the Congress is controlled by Republicans. They are controlled by the President, and they have done nothing in the way of oversight."

Nixon tried spying on Americans in 1972 and it didn't work then! Congress passed a law so it wouldn't happen again - at least without severe consequences - and what does ole' Georgie Boy Bush do? He not only spies on Americans, without a warrant, he lies about, and when caught, attempts to fabricate an absurd justification that he has some "special inherent power" not spelled out in the Constitution. Not only is it "special" but its reserved only for him as Commander-in-Chief!

Well, as Jack Cafferty so soundly put it,

"It means President Bush violated his oath of office...It means he’s been lying to us about the program since it started, when [he] tells us there’s nothing illegal about what he’s doing. A court has ruled it is illegal."

Judge Anna Diggs ruling:

"There are no hereditary Kings in America and no powers not created by the Constitution. So all 'inherent powers' must derive from that Constitution -- It was never the intent of the framers to give the president such unfettered control, particularly where his actions blatantly disregard the parameters clearly enumerated in the Bill of Rights."
